Algarve is celebrated for its beaches, golf courses, and natural landscapes, yet Faro remains a surprising treasure. It is here that we chose to create Quinta de Faro, a collection of prestigious private villas. The best way to grasp the atmosphere of the city is to experience it in person, and to discover the local addresses that make Faro so special.

We are located in Faro, the capital of the Algarve, an enchanting city with splendid scenes, a peaceful atmosphere, and many hidden treasures ready to be explored.

Historic Faro

The historic city centre, the old town of Faro, is surrounded by Roman ramparts and seems to have remained unchanged for generations. It is a place where every street tells a story.

Wander through the historic centre and fall in love with ancient coloured doors, tiled façades, and quiet cobblestone streets. Visit the Gothic style Sé Cathedral, built after the reconquest of Faro from the Moors in 1249, and climb up to the roof terrace where the view over the city and the Ria Formosa is truly breathtaking.

Other areas to explore include the Marina, a peaceful place where you can admire the boats and the changing light on the water. At sunset, the harbour becomes one of the most beautiful spots in the city.

The municipal museum of Faro, located in a former cloister, reveals the diverse roots of the Algarve. The collection spans from Roman times to the Moorish period and also includes modern paintings. In the Roman collection, the mosaic of the ocean is a highlight not to be missed.

Sunsets and gastronomy

Whether you are looking for the perfect spot to watch the sunset or a place to enjoy traditional Algarve dishes and seafood, Faro offers an extensive choice of rooftops, waterfront terraces, and restaurants.

Relaxed evenings

Live music, vibrant bars, and quiet terraces

Our favourite sunset spots include The Lab Terrace, a rooftop terrace above the Living Sciences Museum with an incredible view over the harbour and spectacular sunsets in a cool, relaxed atmosphere.

Hôtel Eva Senses is a four star hotel ideally located on the edge of the Marina, close to the old town and the pedestrian area. Its rooftop bar is one of Faro most popular venues, with regular live performances and concerts. O Castelo, set within the historic walls, offers a chic and relaxed atmosphere and is one of the best places in town to watch the sun disappear over the Ria.

For dining, Lodo serves fish that comes straight from the Ria Formosa and offers traditional Algarve dishes and seafood in a typical Portuguese house. O Coreto, founded in 1986, has been a local reference for more than thirty years, offering quality cuisine in the heart of Faro.

At CHECKin Faro by Leonel Pereira, a starred chef in France has created a restaurant that delights the senses with innovative and flavourful dishes, recognised with the Michelin Bib gourmand. Alameda completes the offer with authentic food based on fresh local products, excellently prepared in a warm and contemporary setting.

A fairly regular swell throughout the year gives surfers the opportunity to perfect their skills.

Deserta Island, also known as Barreta, is the only uninhabited island of the Ria Formosa and a true paradise for nature lovers. Here, the sound of the waves and the birds is your only soundtrack and the horizon seems endless.

Farol Island is mainly known for its exceptional beaches, incredible water, and quiet atmosphere. Once you leave the small community around the lighthouse, you step into a supremely relaxing landscape, an ideal place to spend the day and to enjoy a different side of the Algarve.
